Smooth and Soothing Care for Dry Skin

It is winter with a vengeance and skin needs all the help it can get--moving from the piercing cold outside into drying heat indoors. Skin can become prone to itching. It could be caused by any number of things—dry indoor heat, chafing cold, etc. Here is a moisture lotion that might help bring some relief, from very dry skin. It really works.
Curél Itch Defense Skin Balancing Lotion really does feel smooth and comforting like liquid satin that is quickly absorbed into your skin. It is thick and rich but not gloppy and is dispensed through a handy pump. Humectants and emollients boost moisturization while Natural Ceramides, help restore the skin’s ability to hold moisture.
Itch Defense Lotion was awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance, which tell you something about the authenticity of this product.
The formula is fragrance-free and contains anti-itch ingredients such as Panthenol, Olive Oil and Shea Butter. If you have dry skin flare-ups and are looking for a lotion that offers relief and protection quickly and unobtrusively, try Curél Itch Defense Skin Balancing Lotion. You will know it is working, but all you will feel is relief.
Sugg. Retail rice if $7.99 for a 13 oz. pump bottle

Skin Deep

Don’t look now but here comes some more “weather.” Temperatures seem stuck in the skin-irritating frost zone, showing little signs of a serious Spring thaw. Frigid temperatures, blustery winds—along with indoor heating-- take a toll on skin.

One line of defense is Lubdriderm Intense Skin Repair Body Lotion. It can help repair and heal rough, winter-weathered skin. Featuring a revolutionary, time released technology that contains encapsulated Shea Butter, it is clinically shown to provide 24-hour moisturization and relieve itchy dry skin.

Lubriderm is a very recognizable name in skin care but have you noticed how many different kinds of Lubriderm there are now? In addition to the Intense Skin Repair Body Lotion, there are 12 other Lubriderm products.
· Advanced Therapy Hand Cream - This unique formula, which is enriched with vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants, is clinically shown to moisturize for 24 hours, and lasts through hand washing, leaving your hands softer, smoother and more comfortable.
· Advanced Therapy Moisturizing Lotion - It moisturizes for 24 hours and is clinically shown to turn extra-dry skin into healthier, more resilient skin in just one week.

· Advanced Therapy Triple Smoothing Lotion- Specially formulated with alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), its exclusive triple-action formula gently exfoliates flaky skin to help improve skin cell turnover, smoothes the appearance of rough, uneven skin and is clinically shown to moisturize for 24 hours.
· Intense Skin Repair Calming Relief Body Lotion - It's specially formulated with soothing emollients and HydraRelease™ technology for 24 hours of continuous moisture for healthy-looking, soft and comfortable skin.
· Intense Skin Repair Body Lotion and Body Cream – both with HydraRelease™ technology

And there are the All Daily Moisture Lotions, all with 24 hours of continuous moisture.
· Daily Moisture Lotion
· Daily Moisture Lotion – Fragrance Free
· Daily Moisture with SPF 15
· Sensitive Skin Therapy Moisturizing Lotion
· Skin Nourishing Moisturizing Lotion with Sea Kelp Extract

Beautiful Bonus from Borghese

There is a very reliable rumor circulating that Borghese is having a fabulous sale. But it is ephemeral so remember the date. Borghese—the name that signifies, as they promise, “ the tradition of Italian classic beauty and modern sensibility” has tempting collections of skincare, make-up, fragrance, hair care, and more as well as a men’s line.

Here is the ephemeral part. For one-day only, you can receive 25% off anything and everything (your complete order, no minimum) when you order online at http://www.borghese.com/. Simply enter the promo code – LASTCHANCE at the checkout. The sale starts at 12:01 am on Tuesday, December 16th and ends at 11:59 pm on December 16th.

With a genuine offer like this, who needs TARP Funds?

Mask-Away Stress

The Purify Self-Heating Mask (sugg. retail price ($5.99) from Bioré deserves another mention.

Right about now just might be a good time to apply the contents of this little power-packed capsule and massage it into your face. And it is easy to open—no “tear-here” tantrums-- unlike some other packaging that instructs “tear here” and no amount of tearing will work--especially nerve-wracking if you are trying to get ready for a shower and don’t have any scissors handy.

The self-heating mask fulfills the promise of a relaxing skin revitalizer…and in only one minute. And there is absolutely no mess. You just massage the mask into your skin. The warmth feels wonderful and soothing—calming. Then you just rinse off and there you are, ready for anything new that comes your way.

Skincare for Men, but for Women, as well

Sometimes it is easy to forget that skin is not just a protective covering holding your insides in. Skin is an organ—an organ like your heart or your lungs. Skin is the body’s largest organ and it needs to be taken care of faithfully.

Skin is the body’s first line of defense and when it is healthy, it is able to withstand extreme conditions - heat, cold, wetness, dryness, abrasion - and even heal itself when damaged.

Vaseline has been making skincare products for some time now and lately they seem to have launched an impressive number of variations. Now they have a skincare line for men. The company states that men’s skin is thicker and more oily than women’s skin – so men need products that are specifically designed for their unique skin needs.

For men or women alike, lifestyle can dehydrate the skin without you even knowing it, since a day spent outdoors can drain at least ½ pint of water from skin and after a swim or a shower, it can take skin up to 8 hours to rehydrate.

Vaseline Men skin care products include:

Fast Absorbing Body & Face Lotion—the quick absorption is a plus for anyone.

Extra Strength Body & Face Lotion –this offers long lasting hydration to help severely dry skin heal itself

Extra Strength Hand Lotion -- relieves and heals dry, rough skin, including hands, elbows and feet, knees, and is also quick absorbing—important for anyone who doesn’t have time to wait for a greasy hand lotion to do its work so you can get on with yours.

There’s no reason women can’t use these skin care products as well, and while it may not seem necessary, other than the appeal of the new packaging, to have a skincare line just for men, if it gets them to protect and care for their skin, then, why not?

Definity Possibilities

Olay has been in the business of skincare long enough to know what they are doing. Born more than fifty years ago, as Oil of Olay, the skincare company has evolved into one of the best performing anti-aging skin care lines.

Color Recapture, by Olay Definity, one of several categories of skincare that Olay offers, at first seemed like it would be like many often marketed, oft tried combinations of moisturizer and coverage. Too many times products that make this dual promise turn out to be, somewhat duplicitous, if unintentionally. Something just misses—either the color is streaky or the moisturizer is either too greasy or not there. Olay’s Definity Color Recapture, however, really does what it says it will do. And isn’t that what any of us wants from any product?

The slim, clear container is easy on the eye and shows off the ribbons of coverage amid the moisturizer. Just the right amount of the mixture comes out of the pump if you are careful not to press too hard--a little goes a long way. The solution goes on very smoothly and feels like satin against the skin. And the result was a surprising excellent. The color blends in perfectly with the anti-aging moisturizer and provides the right amount of coverage for most days. Imperfections and discolorations are diffused by the sheer illuminating color and the skin has a more supple feel. And even while it is making your complexion more luminous, Color Recapture is working as an anti-aging skin care elixir.

Available in three shades: Fair to Light; Light to Medium; Medium to Deep

Beautiful Botanicals

From France comes Clarins’ Extra Firming Tightening Lift Botanical Serum. Touted as a “natural alternative to injections, lasers and lifts,” it has a lovely feel-- the amber-colored liquid is like cool silk gliding on your face.

This serum as a double effect—it smoothes, soothes and lifts, making it a bit easier to apply make-up. The skin has more “slip” so make-up glides on. It really does what it is meant to. It can be applied in the morning or the evening, and it is said to offer not just instant results; it keeps working over time, meaning that it helps stimulate the skin’s renewal process.

Ingredients include:

Oat Sugars, which create an immediate tightening effect
Inca Peanut Proteins, smooth and refine skin’s texture
Hibiscus Seed Proteins moisturize
Stimulen, a blend of amino acids and Vitamin E encourages skin renewal.
Silicium (derived from Brown Algae) boosts elastin and collagen synthesis

As it says on the famous white, red and gold box: “Clarins: Effective serious treatments, ensuring maximum results with the highest quality ingredients.” And, as evidenced by the comment form in the box, they care about what their customers have to say.

$75. A very little goes a very long way.

Sunscreen

The season may be slouching towards Fall but you still need to wear sunscreen daily. It is not needed when it is raining, of course, but have you noticed how many times the forecast calls for rain and then the sun comes out or the day starts drizzly and gray and then just when you are outside exposed to the weather, here comes the sun.

Go ahead. Slather some on your face and hands just to be sure. You’ll be glad you did later.

Regimen Change

In the face of the current economic upheaval, we still want our faces to be clean and healthy and we don’t want to pay too much for the products. Some skin cleansing products that are affordable and pleasurable to use are include in Daily Recharging Skincare Collection from Bioré .
There not too many “steps” in this collection--just enough. This is not one of those “beauty care regimens” so often hawked in department store cosmetics departments. Who has time for regimens—never mind the regime changes--it is past the time for a “regimen change”

A favorite is the Purify Self-Heating Mask (sugg. retail price ($5.99). Just the right amount comes out of the foil capsule-like units—and it opens without scissors, unlike some other companies whose packaging instructs “tear here” and no amount of tearing will work--especially nerve-wracking if you are trying to get ready for a shower and don’t have any scissors handy. The self-heating mask fulfills the promise of a relaxing skin revitalizer…and in only one minute. And there is absolutely no mess. You just massage the mask into your skin. The warmth feels wonderful.

The collection also includes a Detoxify Daily Scrub ( $6.99) that uses rosemary, sage, nettle and chamomile to uncover freshness and soothe at the same time. Nourish Moisture Lotion, SPF 15 ($9.99) contains wild yellow poppy (just the name alone is invigorating, conjuring up images of Georgia O’Keefe’s flowers by way of Oz, rose hip, chamomile and aloe along with silicon to help keep the shine from waxing on your face. Most important is that broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

Who can not like the Refresh Daily Cleansing Cloths ($5.99) ? They save so much time and do a good job of getting make-up off the face…you might need to follow up with an astringent to be sure every trace of the day has been swept off your face.
(Sometimes a pre-step to using any facial cleansing cloths is to wipe off the first layer of make-up or grime with an unscented baby-wipe.)

The Restore Boosting Night Serum ( $9.99) is a nice compact dynamo to recharge your cleansed skin while you sleep and hopefully don’t dream of the economy or your job or your 401k.

Even the Bioré commercials for this line are comparatively low keyed and agreeable and the products don’t disappoint your skin or your wallet. And let’s face it, you are not going to be getting a Fed bailout anytime soon.
